A message to readers long-term and recent

Well, we all need to move with the times. We can’t stand still - either we fall into insignificance or we simply get swept aside by a new breed, the breed that WE have been responsible for creating. So, if we get peeved about becoming redundant we have mostly got ourselves to blame, along with the endless creators of new technologies.

I think the best way to avoid redundancy is to accept the changing world around us and hitch our wagon to the ones who want to overtake us and, in that vein, I have hitched a ride with my son, Simon, who is taking me into the current millennium, much the same as I did with him in the previous one.

Simon has created for me (and for you, the readers) a bryanforby website where I can create a blog of my adventures, a permanent repository for my stories, and which makes distributing them much simpler for me. So, whether you are long-time devotees of the resoconti like Aldo and Palma (who, quite incidentally, are just about the nicest mannered folk you could ever hope to meet) or looong-time mates but more recent readers like Ron and Sally (very smart and most likable) this new format just makes reading my yarns a heap more enjoyable.

For Aldo it means that he can read them while driving along Parramatta Road from work in Sydney’s CBD to home at Breakfast Point with greater comfort. In bumper-to-bumper traffic you don’t need to make many decisions, the other drivers fore and aft make all the necessary decisions for you. Just a couple of hints, though Aldo:

1. Just read ONE story each day.

2. Start a new paragraph when you get to a red light. You don’t need to worry about looking up to see when it turns green, the bloke behind you will tell you when.

3. If you still haven’t finished the story when you get to Breakfast Point pull into the IGA car park and finish it off before going in and getting the milk. If it is a particularly engaging resoconto of some length you can return to it easily by going to the blog. It will still be there the next day.

Poor bugger Ron, who, with Sally, has spent quite a few months and dollars touring Italy, was keeping up with my adventures until he suddenly hit something he shouldn’t have on the keyboard and lost them all! Along with them he also lost my email address so he was stonkered but NOW everything will be fine, unless he forgets my name! He’ll be able to find all my resoconti, including the ones he thought were lost and he can renew his acquaintance with his favourite ones.

And that applies to everyone! All the resoconti will be there. You will receive them just like before – dropped straight into your inbox and you’ll be able to revisit them anytime you want to.
